God is so good! God began placing adoption on both of our hearts last spring and the adoption process has been moving at lightening speed.
All of our documentation was shipped to China on Friday, January 8, 2016. Our agency has continued to emphasize throughout this process that once our documents are logged into China’s database we should anticipate a 6-9 month wait to be matched with a child.
Unexpectedly, I received a call on January 12, 2016 from the program director at our agency. It was a Tuesday so Matthew was at school. Collin and I were eating lunch when I received a call from Eugene, OR, where our agency is based. The agency had indicated that they would be calling sometime over the next two weeks to discuss the matching process. I answered the phone excited to learn a little more about the process.
Instead, the program director shared that they had matched a precious little girl with our family. I’m pretty sure I asked her if she was joking. I was in complete shock; it had only been four days since our documents shipped!!! As the director shared with me the information they had, my mind struggled between wanting to hang up the phone and call Greg and wanting to hear every single detail about this little girl. Everything about her sounded perfect.
After hanging up the phone with the director, I immediately called Greg and shared with him the shocking news while anxiously awaiting the file on our little girl.
We had less than 48 hours to review the file and submit a letter of intent. We quickly contacted Children’s Mercy International Adoption Clinic and our family members who are doctors to review the file. As we read through the file, we fell in love with her. We did our due diligence, though. We listened to what the doctors had to say, which as we expected was positive. We submitted our Letter of Intent the following morning, January 13, 2016.
God is so good!
Our precious little girl was born on January 19, 2014. She will turn 2 in just a few days. My heart breaks that we cannot be there to celebrate with her. However, her picture brings a smile to my face. Our sweet girl is sitting, laughing, enjoys playing with toys and enjoys songs. After surgery to repair a cleft palate and resolving another medical issue, this precious little girl is growing and thriving. We cannot wait to meet her!!
The boys are so excited to welcome their little sister, Emily Mei Chapman, into the family.
We appreciate your prayers and support as we prepare to bring our little girl home. We will be traveling to China late spring/early summer. If you are able and willing to support us financially we have set up an account through PureCharity. All donations should be tax-deductible and will be forwarded directly to our agency from PureCharity to help with the adoption costs. Most importantly, we ask for your prayers as we wait, and as we prepare to become a family of five.
