We shipped our little girl her first gift from us, a photo album and a lovey.
We included lots of pictures of the four of us plus our dog. And, Matthew added several pictures that he drew. Our agency handles getting the items to the orphanage but its up to the caretakers to give her the items. From everything we’ve seen and heard she is in a wonderful orphanage, so I’m hopeful she will have lots of time to look through the album. We were able to add English labels with the Chinese translation so every picture says ‘mom’ or ‘dad’ or ‘brother.’ Hopefully, her caretakers will spend at least some time showing her the album so we are a little bit of a familiar face when we are finally able to meet her.
With every day that passes the waiting gets harder. I have spent a lot of time in prayer, and I am continually reminded that God is in control. He knows what we need; He knows what she needs. While waiting (on anything) it is easy for doubts, worry and frustration to creep in, but I look back over the last 9 months and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God’s hand was guiding and directing us to being matched with this little girl. And He is still in control, even if the wait to bring her home is longer than I want it to be.
I finally reached out to our agency though, to see if there might be some idea as to when we would receive our letter of acceptance. They were able to check our file and see that it has been translated and reviewed. Yay! Our letter of acceptance should arrive in the next few weeks.
I can’t wait to meet our little girl face to face.
